This is one of the most bizarre symptoms I have ever experienced. Now the interesting thing is, I can have the computer run a bit to warm up the internals, restart the computer, and then the USB 3.0 ports will be recognized! If I go to the device manager when USB 3.0 does not initialize, the VIA USB controller isn't even listed on there. When the colder months of the year loom along, and the temperature of the house drops (~ 55 F or 12 C), Windows 10 will fail to initialize this controller after powering up the computer. My Gigabyte board has a VIA VL805 chip for its USB 3.0 controller. I'm hoping that I could get some advice on how to even begin exploring this problem, and hopefully learn something from it! I know it sounds ridiculous, but this quirk in my sig rig (see my processor and motherboard below) has been nagging at me the past few years.
